Neurofire did have some earlier incarnations. For instance, the lead duo performed briefly as “Deep Time” in the summer of 2009, with a notable performance at a former Yonkers City Council President’s birthday variety show. Before coming up with any names, however, the two mainly played music together for fun.

Shortly after the “Deep Time” phase, Hana and Tami went their separate ways: Hana went to New Orleans, to aid in Hurricane Katrina relief and sing in rock bands; meanwhile Tami studied music in the U.K. on multiple occasions and lived in Brooklyn for a few years, playing violin in various bands.

Hana and Tami met up again in 2015 when Tami returned to New York from studying in Bath (U.K.), and Hana had recently moved back to New Jersey.
